About

Charlotte Shockey developed an interest in genealogy in middle school when she was assigned to create her coat of arms. Eight years later, she found herself wanting to learn more about her family history. While working on her genealogy, she became friends with fellow author Emmaline Rose. Emmaline encouraged Charlotte to try writing, telling her she could become her own favorite author, and from there, everything began to fall into place.
Charlotte is a Georgia-based fiction writer and genealogical storyteller. She writes character-driven contemporary fiction layered with humor, heart, and complex relationships, alongside carefully researched family histories that preserve overlooked voices.
She is the founder of Dancing Cat Publishing and is currently developing a short story collection and documenting the genealogy of the Shockey family. Blending academic study with lived experience, she brings warmth, wit, and a deep respect for legacy to her work. She is currently pursuing a BA in English & Creative Writing – Fiction at Southern New Hampshire University.
Because in the end, every family has a story—and some are just too good not to tell.
