About

Charlotte Shockey is a Georgia-based fiction writer and genealogical storyteller. She writes character-driven contemporary fiction layered with humor, heart, and complicated relationships, alongside richly researched family histories that preserve forgotten voices. Charlotte is the founder of Dancing Cat Publishing and is currently developing a short story collection and the genealogy of the Shockey family. Blending academic study with lived experience, she brings warmth, wit, and a deep respect for legacy to every project, proving that every family, and every flawed character, has a story worth telling. She is currently pursuing her BA in English & Creative Writing – Fiction at Southern New Hampshire University.
Charlotte Shockey plans to formally launch Dancing Cat Publishing as an independent imprint dedicated to both fiction and genealogical works. Her immediate goal is to complete Minnie Memories, a story collection centered on humor, friendship, and generational storytelling. She also intends to continue carefully sourcing and verifying the Shockey family lineage before publishing her genealogy project, Shockey Roots, ensuring historical accuracy and integrity.
In addition, Charlotte is committed to finishing several partially drafted novels and developing new ideas into completed manuscripts. By balancing research-driven nonfiction with character-focused contemporary fiction, she aims to build a sustainable writing career that honors both creative imagination and family legacy. Long term, she plans to expand her catalog, strengthen her author platform, and establish Dancing Cat Publishing as a recognizable and respected independent brand.
